Our Vision Statement

Thorndon Park Kindergarten will be a partnership of parents, caregivers and staff committed to developing the knowledge, skills, dispositions and values necessary to empower children to become independent, optimistic learners and respectful, responsible citizens.

What we offer:

Welcome to Thorndon Park Kindergarten, nestled in the lovely suburb of Athelstone! We are thrilled to support local families within our catchment area, offering a friendly and nurturing environment for your child. With small group sizes and a caring, experienced team of educators, we ensure each child receives the individual attention they deserve. Our beautiful natural surroundings and well-equipped facilities provide the perfect space for your child to explore, learn, and grow.

It operates on a full-time basis, offering the following services:

    • 15 hours of preschool per week, two full days: 8:15am – 3:45pm.
    • Small groups, with a current maximum of 22 children per a group, children attend on:
      • Monday and Tuesday (Red Gum group)
      • Wednesday and Thursday (Blue Gum group)
    • Specialist support for children with additional rights is available by referral to Department for Education Support Services.
    • Orientation visits are offered to new children during Term 4, prior to beginning their kindergarten learning journey in Term 1 of the following year. Orientation opportunities are also provided for children commencing through the mid-year intake, with visits offered in the lead-up to their start. These visits provide children and families with opportunities to become familiar with the kindergarten environment, educators, routines and community, supporting a confident and positive transition into kindergarten.
