Welcome to Thorndon Park Kindergarten
Thorndon Park Kindergarten is a welcoming learning community where children are encouraged to explore, create and develop a lifelong love of learning.
Through play-based and inquiry learning, children build confidence, independence, positive relationships and important skills for their transition to school. We value strong partnerships with families and look forward to supporting your child throughout their preschool journey.
Preschool Session Times
Children attend one of two session groups and receive 15 hours of preschool each week.
Monday and Tuesday
8:15am – 3:45pm
Wednesday and Thursday
8:15am – 3:45pm
When Can My Child Start?
Children are entitled to four terms of government preschool in the year before starting school.
- Turning four before 1 May: Start in Term 1.
- Turning four between 1 May and 31 October: Start in Term 3.
- Turning four after 31 October: Start the following year.
Aboriginal children and children who are or have been in care can access preschool from three years of age.
Preschool Enrolment
To begin the enrolment process, complete the Preschool Registration of Interest Form and return it to Thorndon Park Kindergarten.
Getting Ready for Preschool
Each day, children should bring a named bag, healthy snack and lunch, water bottle and a complete change of clothes. Please ensure all belongings are clearly labelled.
Families must also provide current immunisation records and any required medical plans or medication before their child begins.
